Climatic Conditions : New Jersey

New Jersey experiences a moderate climate with warm and humid summers and cold winters. In the northwestern hills, winter temperatures are colder and summer temperatures milder compared to the rest of the state. In Atlantic City, the average mean temperature is 53°F (12°C), ranging from 31°F (–1°C) in January to 75°F (24°C) in July. Precipitation is abundant with the area receiving 46 inches of precipitation annually. Snowfall totals about 16 inches (41 cm).

The area has been prone to occasional hurricanes and violent spring storms, Floods are not uncommon in the Passaic River basin.
